hump day inbox purge

i hate referring to it as "hump day," but i guess it kind of is. here's some stuff that's landed in my mail.

>POWERS "touch the world" here's a new single from POWERS. it's catchy. i have a feeling if you like ke$ha, you'll probably dig this. i can't be the only one who thinks this chick sounds like a less-drunk version of her, right?

>eternal death "bullet" oh, look, another synth-club song that sounds like all of the other ones that came before it! i'm going to pass.

>secret stages festival - if, for some reason, you live, or find yourself in, birmingham, alabama on august 1 & 2, you can catch these bands at the secret stages festival. i like the idea of this; taking unknowns and giving them one place to play over a weekend to grab some exposure. brilliant. i recall that was why i started blogging in the first place...

lineup (more to come later):
Armand Margjeka (Birmingham, AL)
Baghouse (Athens, GA)
Captain Green (Baton Rouge, LA)
CYNE (Gainesville, FL)
The Debauchees (Louisville, KY)
Doc Aquatic (Asheville, NC)
Ex-Cult (Memphis, TN)
Gold Plated Gold (Chattanooga, TN)
The Green Seed (Birmingham, AL)
Mad Nomad (Little Rock, AR)
Passing Parade (Jackson, MS)
Path Working (Birmingham, AL)
Promised Land Sound (Nashville, TN)
Spirits and the Melchizedek Children (Atlanta, GA)
Urbandy (Birmingham, AL)

>telegraph "rewind" this is what is sounds like when pop punk bands try their hand at hair metal. cue all underage girls who want to pretend that they're some kind of rebellious, misunderstood bad ass.

>the dirty gems "insomniac" if you like solid female vocals, and jazz, you'll love this sound outta brooklyn.

>blank spaces memory man - i saved the best for last. check this david bowie inspired video of the title track from this new album, launched this week. dude records all his stuff in his bedroom. how sexy! you can buy it on itunes
