A Few Goodies From The Old Inbox

We're back, betches. Let's kick this off with a little inbox brain dump.

Oberhofer. I can't pronounce it but I heart it nonetheless. While I still can't gather if this is a band or a dude, I am going to go with dude. Although, if it's a dude he should probably change his name to something easier to remember so I don't have to look under the "O" category of iTunes for a refresher. It's snazzy and fun. Yeah, I said snazzy. Check it:

On a high note (pun intended), the Black Angels just announced new tour dates. If those of you in the ATL can stomach the Masquerade, it's probably worth it. Austinites, we get Emo's ;)

The Strokes are releasing a new album on March 22nd not that anybody has cared about them since the drummer, old what's-his-name, dated Drew Barrymore. It's called 'Angels' and they're probably going to need nothing short of a miracle to move some units. Suitable title, I guess.

Resurrection. Courtesy of Fitz & the Tantrums

Dear Fitz & the Tantrums:

I would like to thank you for what you just did to me. I'm a big fan of giving thanks where it's due, and this is definitely one of those times. See, I've been absent from music blogging because I was so uninspired with, well...everything. Life. Jobby job. Music. You get the idea.

So, imagine my utter disbelief when, while sitting at my desk after a particularly grueling meeting, I hear "MoneyGrabber" on the radio, and find it impossible to keep it to myself without retreating to the only outlet I know: the bloggy blog. The same one I have been broken up with for about two years. The same one that taught me that there is simply no new music worthy to speak of anymore. Oh, Fitz, you and your Tantrums have just given me musical Lasik. It's like I can see again. Your sunshiney seventies soul poppy goodness wrapped up in a pretty bow has taught me that, just like Guinness and Heinz have been telling me for many years, good things come to those who wait.

Do me a favor and let the genius at Dangerbird Records who decided you needed to be heard by the masses know that it's the best thing they've done since Silversun Pickups.

Moneygrabber Video

Do me another favor. Let me know when you hit Atlanta. That way, I'll have plenty of time to acquire a seventies hooptie and feather boa to travel to the show in. Kthanks.

Sincerely,
Leah Baker
