Jil Station/Morning State CD Release.

So, I think I begged and pleaded for everyone I know to come out to the Masquerade last night to support the CD Release show of one of my favorite local bands, Jil Station. Overall, there was a very large crowd there, and the boys put on a super performance that had Kyle Dreaden standing tall with his animated face in the audience half the time. I attended a little pre-party before the show, because apparently, I am a freelance writer, and thanks to the boys at Sweetwater Brewery and the managers of both Morning State and Jil Station, I entered the show with a courtesy buzz. Of course, I was not the only one, as there were about 75 to 100 other industry folks there (amazing how the words "free beer" bring out a crowd, eh?).

Jonathan Baker from Second Shift and DJ L from Break Thru Radio did an awesome job of MCing the event and giving out fun prizes. I did an awesome job at posing for semi-lewd pictures. I think everyone had a good time, and if you weren't there, I kind of feel sorry for you.

Another plus is that I was handed a demo CD from Eller, a local band I have yet to check out, so once I give that a good listen, I'll be sure to report it all.

Also, speaking of Sweetwater Brewery, are you aware that they give tours every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 5:30? In case you've never been to a "tour," let me just tell you that you pay $6, are given a really nice souvenir glass and 3 tickets for beer. Then, you get whatever beer you want, and you mingle with all the other beer lovers congregating around. Some people bring their dogs. It's just a fun time to be had. And, you get to keep the glass! My freezer is full of them. The point is, next Friday, August 25, Jon Harris & The Sin Hounds will be providing the live music. I will be there. So should you. Unless you're under 21.
